According to the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the institute recently achieved an important breakthrough in compressed air energy storage technology research and development. The world’s first set of compressed air energy storage compressors with the largest single-machine power, jointly developed by the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and China Storage National Energy (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., has passed third-party testing with CNAS accreditation. The test results show that the compressor’s maximum exhaust pressure reaches 10.1 MPa, with a maximum power of 101 MW, a variable working condition range of 38.7% to 118.4%, and an efficiency of 88.1% at the highest exhaust pressure, reaching an internationally leading level.
