Tesla loses another executive: Raj Jegannathan, Vice President of IT / AI Infrastructure who served for 13 years, departs

IT Home, February 12 — On Monday, local time, Tesla executive Raj Jegannathan announced on LinkedIn that he will be leaving the company after 13 years of service.

In his post, Jegannathan stated, “It’s hard to summarize 13 years in a short article. My journey at Tesla has been a continuous process of growth and transformation. From designing, building, and operating one of the world’s largest AI clusters to making significant contributions in information technology, cybersecurity, sales, and service, I am honored to have served here.”

According to IT Home, Jegannathan joined the Fremont factory in November 2012 as a senior engineer and was gradually promoted within Tesla. His most recent position was Vice President of IT/AI Infrastructure, Business Applications, and Information Security.

However, last year, it was reported that after the departure of former head Troy Jones, Jegannathan had taken on a new role overseeing the North American sales team.

Although Jegannathan’s LinkedIn profile does not explicitly mention this position, considering Tesla has not officially appointed anyone else to the role, this news is considered credible.

His departure is a significant loss for Tesla but not a catastrophic talent drain. Jegannathan is one of the few executives who responds to customer and fan questions on the X platform, which has become a unique aspect of Tesla’s user experience.

It is currently unclear whether Jegannathan was dismissed or left voluntarily.

He concluded his message with, “Embarking on a new journey soon, I feel fulfilled and look forward to the future. Thank you, Tesla, for this valuable experience!”

This departure continues the trend of executive exits at Tesla, with major personnel changes occurring over the past 24 months.

Over the past two years, Tesla has seen a high turnover rate among senior executives, including well-known leaders such as Drew Baglino, Rohan Patel, Rebecca Tinucci, Daniel He, Omeid Afsar, Milan Kovacic, and Sidhanth Avasthi, all of whom have left the company.
