Talking with a junior, he always complains to me about the pressure of mortgage payments. Then he said that the company is going to allocate housing, and I told him to just live in the company's housing. He said that the company's house will be reclaimed after retirement. I thought, retirement is still decades away, so I should focus on living a comfortable life now.
Chinese people are busy all their lives, living frugally, working like horses, compressing all current experiences, sacrificing the most beautiful decades of youth, just for those last ten years to die well. Work is for retirement, marriage is for retirement, having children is for retirement... Everything is to prepare for the later years that will come after decades. The older generation is controlled by the fear of aging, living their entire lives preparing for the last few years before death. They live in the future, not in the present, afraid that when they die no one will notice, no one will hold a funeral, afraid that no one will visit their grave during Qingming Festival... They are used to sacrificing 80% of a high-quality life to exchange for an inevitable ending... They’ve never thought about living well, only about dying in style. If aging and death are destined, shouldn’t we work harder to improve the quality of life when we are young? Living a busy life just to face aging and death is quite ironic. When you die, no one will bury you, and your body won’t smell; others won’t smell you either. They talk about you, but you can’t hear it. No matter how wealthy or how filial the children are, old age cannot be lived well. The body's functions determine how high the quality of life can be. Living each day fully and focused is the only way to truly feel the brilliance and passion of a fleeting life, to fully enjoy every moment of the present. As for yesterday and tomorrow, let them come or go.
