OpenAI's Whisper open-source model surprisingly supports the entire business of so many hardware and software startups. Plaud is a typical example; they have already sold 1 million devices and recently launched a new generation product, NotePin S, at CES. However, what's interesting is that they only have a little over 5,000 followers on X. To be honest, that's a bit too cold. The gap between follower count and actual sales makes people doubt the authenticity of social media data.

1 million devices and only 5,000 followers. The gap is so big that I want to check out their X account to see what's going on.

1 million devices and 5,000 followers—this data is ridiculously mismatched. Either sales are inflated or they simply don't care about social buzz.

Sold millions of devices, but only 5,000 fans? This data is ridiculously off. Either the sales figures are inflated or they simply don't care about social marketing.

honestly the follower count thing is wild... sold a million units but barely cracking 5k on X? that's like watching a mining pool pull massive hashrate but nobody's watching the dashboard lmao. either their marketing is absolutely dogshit or something's off with the metrics. reminds me of those early asic manufacturers who'd ship hardware but couldn't figure out social to save their lives

Only 5,000 fans for 1 million units sold? This data is indeed outrageous; it feels like X is full of bots and zombie followers.

1 million devices and 5,000 followers? This data is ridiculously unreasonable, either the sales figures are inflated or the social media operation is really poor.

This is a typical case of incentive distortion. Selling 1 million devices but only gaining 5,000 fans? What does that indicate? It shows that they don't really need to establish governance consensus or community trust on X; just direct conversion is enough. Conversely, projects that are constantly creating buzz on social media often lack a solid real business model to back them up.

1 million devices, 5,000 followers, this gap is quite huge... It really shows that social media metrics are not reliable at all.

1 million units sold with 5,000 followers, this data doesn't add up... Either the sales are inflated, or no one is really paying attention to this track. From a probabilistic strategy perspective, the former carries greater risk.
