According to Russia's Kommersant, during closed-door discussions with Russian business circles, Russian President Putin stated that Russia is negotiating with the United States (not Ukraine) regarding the management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The report said that the U.S. has expressed interest in using the plant's electricity for Bitcoin mining and has discussed electricity supply and cooperation arrangements. The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is the largest in Europe and the ninth largest in the world by installed capacity. Russian troops entered the area in March 2022, and since September of the same year, the reactors have been shut down. It is currently managed by Russia's state atomic energy company, Rosatom.
