Stacks network has completed the SIP-034 upgrade, increasing the effective capacity of some DeFi applications by up to 30 times. The upgrade was activated through a governance mechanism and changes how transaction processing limits are handled, allowing the network to reset only depleted resources rather than resetting all limits at once. This is expected to significantly improve performance for read-intensive and complex DeFi use cases, such as concentrated liquidity. Alex Huth of Stacks Labs stated that the upgrade enables the blockchain to better support high-value workflows, which could improve network activity, transaction volume, and fees over time.
