Foresight News reports that Vitalik Buterin posted that, “In 2026, I plan to fully return to decentralized social networks. In fact, since the beginning of the year, I have been re-engaging with decentralized social platforms. Every article I publish or read this year has been posted using firefly.social, which is a multi-client platform supporting reading and publishing on X, Lens, Farcaster, and Bluesky (although Bluesky has a 300-character limit, so they don’t see my brilliant long-form posts). The Aave team has done an excellent job managing Lens so far. I am very optimistic about Lens’s development over the next year because I believe the new team members genuinely care about social aspects: they started researching how to implement encrypted tweets back when decentralized social was still in its infancy. I plan to publish more content there this year. I encourage everyone to spend more time on Lens, Farcaster, and the broader decentralized social platforms this year.”
