  • Pi Network celebrated 1 year of Open Network, making ecosystem tokens, KYC, and AI tools the top priorities of the Mainnet.
  • Pi coin traded around $0.17 as the update noted 16 million users completed KYC and migrated to Mainnet.

Pi Network celebrated the first anniversary of its Open Network with an update to its strategy by founders Chengdiao Fan and Nicolas Kokkalis. The message was dedicated to the upcoming phase of Mainnet development that targets ecosystem tokens, identity services, and artificial intelligence. Open Network enabled wider connectivity, broader utility, and more interaction with external blockchain activity. Over the past year, the project concentrated on keeping the network stable while supporting growth in apps and services that use Pi.

Happy first anniversary of Open Network!

The founders pointed to an execution-focused approach since the Open Network launch. Work has centered on improving infrastructure reliability, scaling core systems, and aligning ecosystem development with available capacity. The anniversary communication arrived while Pi traded around** $0.17, **up over 10% in the last week after recent price swings. On Friday this week, Pi Core Team confirmed the Protocol v19.6 upgrade is complete and urged node operators to update to avoid network issues. CNF reported that v19.6 improves node sync and stability, with v19.9 upgrade set for later this month. Pi Network’s Scalable KYC Services and AI Tooling A key roadmap item is Mainnet ecosystem tokens. Pi Network plans to support application-specific tokens that operate alongside Pi as the base asset. Also, the token plan includes on-chain tools to support circulation and exchange within the ecosystem.  The roadmap includes automated market maker features and decentralized exchange tools to support trading of ecosystem tokens within the network. These tools enable more activity inside Pi apps while keeping Pi central to settlement and participation. Identity verification remains a major operational track. Pi Network continued KYC processing and Mainnet migration during the Open Network year. The project reported that more than 16 million users migrated to the Mainnet through verification. The roadmap extends that work with a plan to offer KYC as a service for other projects and businesses that need identity checks. KYC as a service targets organizations that require compliance-ready onboarding and fraud reduction. The network intends to provide a verification infrastructure that can integrate with third-party applications.  Earlier this month, the network’s KYC validator rewards distribution system went into testing after design and implementation were completed. CNF outlined that the team is targeting a release by March 2026. Artificial intelligence is the third pillar of the roadmap. Pi Network plans AI features aimed at platform operations and developer productivity. The update referenced AI support for tooling, ecosystem services, and network management. Areas include smarter workflows for builders, improved analytics for system health, and automation that supports scaling. The anniversary roadmap connected these initiatives to a broader focus on utility. The near-term direction prioritizes reliable infrastructure, verified participation, and developer tools that lead to functioning applications.

Pi Network PIRC baseline protection mechanism sparks controversy, implying a “quasi-stablecoin” logic

Pi Network member Daniel F raised a logical contradiction in the PIRC token design, noting that if it has a 23.8% floor protection, it would need to behave like a stablecoin, which conflicts with its high volatility on CEX. This floor is based on Pi’s price calculations; if Pi itself fluctuates significantly, it will be unable to effectively protect holders. Daniel emphasized the importance of transparency, but the project team did not respond to it, leading the community to continue speculating about the reasons for its silence.
