Trump's social media post triggers a chain of threats, Democratic lawmakers call for police investigation of the president.

Golden Finance reports that the office of U.S. Democratic Congressman Jason Crow is seeking an investigation by the U.S. Capitol Police into Trump, due to social media posts made by the president that they describe as “intimidating, threatening, and concerning.” It is very rare for lawmakers to request an investigation into the sitting president. Crow's request is a faint attempt that touches on the ambiguous and long-debated legal issue of the extent to which a president is subject to the normal procedures of the criminal justice system. Trump had previously posted some messages calling Democratic lawmakers “traitors,” demanding their “arrest and trial,” and stating “lock them up.” Trump also wrote about “seditious acts punishable by death.” Crow stated, “Since the president issued these messages, the number of calls and emails our congressional office has received containing violent rhetoric and more threats has significantly increased.”
