Beware of the fake account opened in the name of SBF: Trump said he forgave, shared meme coins! - Coin Newsletter
A fake Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) account has issued a new meme coin smart contract with claims of Donald Trump pardon and participation in DOGE.
A fake account of Sam Bankman-Fried claimed to have been pardoned by Donald Trump and joined DOGE, then released a new meme coin smart contract (CA), and this account received a grey verification badge on platform X.
The fake SBF account quickly attracted attention with its sharing ‘I was pardoned by Trump, I joined DOGE’. The account’s possession of the gray verification badge defined as a government or multilateral organization account on X platform further added to the confusion.
The new meme coin smart contract released in the wake of the fake account has attracted the attention of many investors, but it has also raised the possibility of scams.
After Ross Ulbricht, the founder of Silk Road, was pardoned by Donald Trump, SBF, sentenced to 25 years in prison for fraud, is now hoping for a similar pardon. Especially the fake account’s Trump pardon claim and the real SBF breaking the silence have caused a great stir in the markets and on social media.
This incident, which resonated in the cryptocurrency world, was further complicated by the first post of SBF’s real account in nearly two years. Bankman-Fried, the founder of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, posted on platform X for the first time since January 2023, speaking about FTX’s internal governance issues and layoffs. This post sparked a lot of curiosity in the crypto community, and there was a sudden movement in the price of the FTT token.
