I just read an exciting news story about Bhutan and its moves in the blockchain world. It turns out that Bhutan's sovereign wealth fund, "Druk Holding and Investments," has already started operating a verification contract for the Sei network, as part of their broader digital transformation vision. What's notable is that Bhutan plans to collaborate with Sei Development in additional areas such as payment systems, digital tokens, and digital identity. This is not surprising, especially since Bhutan has actual experience in this field. The country has already launched a self-sovereign identity system built on Ethereum that serves about 8 million people. Most importantly, Bhutan has collected around 11,286 bitcoins from mining operations, and this amount is now employed in national infrastructure projects, including Gelephu Mindfulness City. This reflects a practical and serious approach from a small country leveraging blockchain resources for real national goals. Interestingly, this collaboration could open doors to new applications of the technology in other government sectors.
