Been watching Bitcoin do its thing this week and honestly, the BTC dominance story is getting pretty hard to ignore at this point. We're seeing fresh highs while basically everything else is bleeding out. Third consecutive daily breakdown on the alt charts—that's not a coincidence.
So here's what caught my attention: Bitcoin's still grinding higher, but the usual breakout signals aren't stacking up the way they should. RSI improved, sure, but volume? Crickets. That's a red flag for me. Even with weekly charts showing some bullish divergence brewing, the short-term setup feels shaky. Meanwhile, Ethereum—supposedly Bitcoin's main competitor—is getting absolutely left in the dust. ETHBTC keeps flashing weakness signals, and honestly, it's becoming clear that capital just isn't rotating into alts right now. BTC dominance keeps climbing and the market's basically saying "we're staying in Bitcoin season."
The breakdown pattern we're seeing? It's showing up everywhere. TOTAL3 just confirmed another daily breakdown, which is basically a warning bell for the entire altcoin space. Even coins trying to find bottoms are struggling hard. SOLBTC losses have been brutal—the alt-to-Bitcoin valuations are getting absolutely wrecked.
Looking at individual alts, the damage is pretty widespread. TAO rolled over after flashing bearish divergence. ZBCN sent another warning. WLFI is honestly a mess technically. ZEC is in overextended territory now. You've got a few like MON that look relatively stronger, but even those are starting to look overheated. SUI hasn't bottomed convincingly yet. LDO, DOT, and a bunch of others are all showing structural weakness.
What's interesting is how this weakness has been building for weeks now. It's not just a bounce—this is a trend, and BTC dominance keeps confirming it.
Beyond crypto, traditional markets are looking fragile too. Equities bounced last week but momentum's stretched. Dollar index is trending down gradually, but ES and NYFANG look like they're topping out. Nvidia's back in overbought territory. Oil and gold are dealing with unfinished gaps. The whole thing feels like it's built on shaky ground.
Bottom line: Bitcoin's showing isolated strength and BTC dominance is rising, but the technical warnings are piling up everywhere—both in alts and traditional finance. If you're holding alts, this is the environment where risk management matters.
