Been looking at inexpensive new cars lately and honestly, if you're trying to stay under $25k, there's more solid options than I thought. Like, everyone assumes cheap means garbage, but some of these actually hold up.

Started digging into what's actually available and the Mitsubishi Mirage keeps popping up - starts around $18k which is wild. Yeah, it's not fast or flashy, but if you're in the city, the thing is practical. Good fuel economy too. Kia Forte and Nissan Sentra are in the $21-22k range and they're legit. The Sentra's got decent space inside and the Forte doesn't feel cheap even though it kind of is in terms of price.

If you can stretch a bit more, the Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Corolla, and VW Jetta all come in under $24k. The Corolla's the obvious pick if you want reliability without breaking the bank - it's basically the safe choice. Jetta's interesting though, supposedly the newer model is actually cheaper than the older one.

The whole thing about inexpensive new cars is you don't have to sacrifice everything. These aren't luxury rides obviously, but they've got decent tech, decent safety stuff, and won't drain your wallet. Main thing is figuring out what matters to you - fuel economy, interior space, or just raw affordability. Anyone else been shopping for something budget-friendly recently?
