AI agent security threats, enterprises respond with "timely governance"

As autonomous systems rapidly increase, businesses must strive to identify the identities of AI agents and enhance security protections. In an era where digital entities can access sensitive systems, the question of who supervises their behavior is becoming increasingly prominent.

With non-human entities accessing core systems and handling sensitive transactions, unregulated non-human identities pose a significant threat to global brands. This is driving a shift towards a “just-in-time governance” model, where the actions of all autonomous agents must be authorized based on real-time context. In this way, businesses are beginning to view AI agents as active entities that require continuous oversight, rather than mere tools.

André Durand, founder and CEO of Ping Identity, emphasizes, “The secure operation of our systems—specifically who exercises what permissions—is crucial,” and points out that “without authentication, security is essentially unattainable.”

To this end, Ping Identity has launched a platform for managing AI agents throughout the entire process from registration to real-time execution. This solution aims to enhance businesses’ overall visibility into the agent environment and strengthen corporate security by granting restricted access only when necessary.

Durand warns, “We must act quickly; to gain a competitive advantage in the agent environment, we must properly apply security principles.” This is precisely why it is essential to appropriately implement security principles to protect corporate brands and systems from harm.
