BTC ETF Options Limits Lifted — Institutions Get the Green Light 🏛️
#比特币ETF期权持仓限额增4倍
A quiet but massive shift just happened in the Bitcoin options market. NYSE Arca and NYSE American have completed the industry-wide removal of the 25,000-contract position and exercise limits on crypto ETF options — meaning BTC and ETH ETF options are now treated identically to other commodity-based ETF options at every major US exchange.
This follows Nasdaq ISE's earlier SEC-approved move to raise IBIT (BlackRock Bitcoin ETF) option limits from 250,000 to 1 million contracts — a 4x increase that sparked $4B in Bitcoin options interest in a single day.
Why it matters: the old limits were actively blocking institutional hedging and yield strategies. Market makers and large desks couldn't operate at the scale demand required. With caps removed, the institutional plumbing for Bitcoin options is finally unchoked. Expect deeper liquidity, tighter spreads, and more sophisticated structured products flowing through the system.
Combined with the White House pushing a crypto market structure bill this month (per advisor Patrick Witt's recent report), the regulatory trajectory is clearly moving toward expansion, not restriction. Institutional capital that's been sidelined waiting for clear rules and adequate market infrastructure now has both signals pointing in the same direction: come in.
