ME News report, on April 27 (UTC+8), North Carolina Republican Senator Thom Tillis said on Sunday local time that he will support the confirmation of Kevin Warsh’s appointment as Federal Reserve chair, thereby clearing the final major obstacle for Trump’s selected successor to Powell. For months, Tillis had refused to vote in favor of Warsh, saying that as long as the Department of Justice’s criminal investigation into Powell is still ongoing, he will not push for the confirmation of any Federal Reserve nominee, calling the criminal investigation an attack on the central bank’s independence. However, the investigation appears to have ended last Friday. (Source: ODAILY)
