Crypto World Network news: OpenAI developer experience lead Romain Huet revealed on X, in response to a user’s question, that starting with GPT-5.4, the Codex model line (the programming-focused model series that OpenAI previously maintained independently) has been merged with the main model into a single system and will no longer be iterated separately. GPT-5.5 further builds on this, with clear improvements in areas such as agentic coding (agent-driven autonomous programming) and computer use (controlling a computer to complete tasks). The practical impact of this merger for developers is that there’s no longer a need to choose between a general model and a programming model—one model now covers conversation, reasoning, and programming capabilities at the same time.
