Bitcoin Freeze Debate on 5.6M Dormant BTC Draws Repricing Warnings
Samuel “Chad” Patt said freezing an estimated 5.6 million dormant BTC could trigger immediate repricing because the market would see circulating bitcoin as conditionally owned. The debate follows BIP-361, a proposal from Jameson Lopp and other developers that contemplates phasing out bitcoin’s current cryptographic signatures and could freeze assets that fail to migrate.
