Prime Minister Jiasheng: Trade negotiations are not "one side demanding sky-high prices, the other begging"
Canadian Prime Minister Carney said on the 22nd in Ottawa that the trade negotiations between Canada and the United States are by no means a situation in which one side makes outrageous demands and the other side humbly pleads, and that the United States has no right to control the terms of the negotiations. On the same day, in response to a reporter’s question about whether Canada should make more concessions to negotiate with the United States, Carney said clearly, “No.” Carney said that the Canadian side and the U.S. side have been communicating on multiple levels and have already addressed a series of issues; both sides clearly understand each other’s trade concerns and have made ample preparations for the negotiations. The Canadian side will consult with the U.S. in a more comprehensive manner to resolve the relevant issues through negotiations. Carney said that the trade negotiations between Canada and the U.S. are not a matter of “one side making outrageous demands and the other begging,” and that “this is not a situation where the U.S. dominates the terms… We are negotiating, and we can reach a mutually beneficial, win-win result. This takes some time, and we will spend time negotiating.” ( Xinhua News Agency )
