Recently, a bunch of social mining, points, and identity badges are flying around again, grinding tasks until it feels like clocking in for work—basically it’s using your time to get a screenshot that might be useful. I’m not opposed to new projects; after all, someone has to test new things. but anonymous teams + no funds locked up + contract permissions tightly kept under control—that sort of thing makes my skin crawl… especially since the points rules change three times a day; whether they’re actually going to be issued, and how they’ll be issued, all comes down to a line of “community consensus.” Turn around and look at everyone complaining about miners/validators’ income, MEV, and unfair ordering—retail users lining up to be used as fuel. At a time like this, going after badges too is pretty much like at a congested intersection, competing over who can honk louder. My approach is pretty timid: if you don’t have to tie your identity, don’t; if you can give fewer permissions, give fewer. Don’t let badges hollow out your life—if they’re really going to do an air drop, it won’t hurt to skip a couple of check-ins.
