NTSB Finds Ford's BlueCruise Driver Assistance System At Fault For Two Fatal Collisions

Abstract generation in progress

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has attributed two fatal collisions in early 2024 to Ford’s BlueCruise driver assistance system, citing its failure to stop for stationary vehicles and detect driver disengagement. The NTSB is calling for stronger safety standards, better oversight, and improvements to crash data recording and driver monitoring systems for partial automation technologies. This comes as Ford plans to offer “eyes-off” technology by 2028 and amid an ongoing NHTSA investigation into Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system.
