How to evaluate North Korea's recent ballistic missile launches? Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Different parties have different definitions of the launch objects.

On April 8, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, hosted a regular press conference. A reporter from Yonhap News Agency asked two questions. First, North Korea launched ballistic missiles on July 7 and 8 for two consecutive days, which violates United Nations Security Council resolutions. How does China view this? Second, regarding South Korean President Lee Jae-myung’s expression of regret over an incident involving a drone entering North Korea’s airspace, on April 6, Kim Yo-jong, a minister of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, said that North Korea’s head of state assessed her attitude as straightforward and generous, but at the same time, the North Korean side reaffirmed its hostile line toward South Korea. How does China assess North Korea’s recent moves? In response, Mao Ning said, “As for your first question, we have noted that there are different views among the relevant parties regarding how the launch objects are defined.” Regarding the second question, Mao Ning replied that, “We have noted the recent statements made by the relevant parties, and China’s basic position on the Korean Peninsula issue has not changed.” (The Paper)
