US media: The United States will send thousands of additional troops to the Middle East to pressure Iran

ME News report, April 15 (UTC+8). U.S. officials said the Pentagon will send thousands of additional soldiers to the Middle East in the coming days. The Trump administration is trying to pressure Iran into reaching an agreement that could end weeks of conflict, while also considering launching further strikes or ground operations if the fragile ceasefire cannot be maintained. According to current and former officials, the forces entering the region include about 6,000 soldiers aboard the “George” aircraft carrier and its escort ships. In addition, about 4,200 soldiers from the “Pugilist” amphibious readiness group and the embarked 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit are expected to arrive by the end of the month. As the two-week ceasefire is set to expire on April 22, the arrival of these added forces is likely to link up with U.S. warships already in the Middle East. These troops will join the approximately 50,000 personnel that the Pentagon previously said were involved in actions against Iran. (Source: PANews)
