“As long as I find this Ming Dynasty general’s tomb, I’ll have no worries about food and clothing for the rest of my life!” In March of this year, Zhang Moumou, a villager from a certain village in Linqu County, Weifang City, Shandong Province, set his sights on an ancient Ming Dynasty tomb on a mountain in his village, secretly contacting a cross-province tomb raiding gang, attempting to loot the tomb for huge profits.
However, this carefully planned “get rich quick” dream was ultimately shattered by the Linqu County Public Security Bureau’s “drone + stakeout” arrest net.
Greed drives risk-taking
Cross-province gang loots tombs
Zhang Moumou, in his 40s, is financially strained. Hearing rumors that a Ming Dynasty general’s tomb in a certain village under Dongcheng Street contains a large amount of gold, he couldn’t help but be tempted.
In January 2026, Zhang Moumou met a man named Ma Moumou from another province on a short video platform, who claimed to be a “professional tomb raiding team member.” He then took the initiative to invite his gang to Linqu to conspire to loot the Ming Dynasty tomb. On March 7, Ma Moumou gathered Wang Moumou, Yu Mou, Li Mou, and others from outside the area, rushing to Linqu, where they met Zhang Moumou. They immediately went to the site of the involved tomb to scout, familiarize themselves with the terrain, and plan the route for the theft, intending to carry out illegal activities under cover of night.
On the night of March 9, Zhang Moumou, Ma Moumou, and five others carried professional tools for looting, conducting a series of crimes under the cover of darkness. Believing they were hidden and unnoticed, they were unaware that a large net was quietly being cast above them.
