On April 7th, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference.

A reporter from China-Arab TV asked: U.S. President Trump threatened Iran, stating that the “final deadline” to reach a ceasefire agreement is 8 p.m. on the 7th, otherwise the entire country of Iran could be “completely overwhelmed” overnight. What is China’s comment on this?

Mao Ning stated that the prolonged conflict in Iran has caused significant casualties and losses, impacted the security and stability of regional countries, and affected the global economy and energy security. China is deeply concerned and worried about this.

Mao Ning pointed out that prolonging the conflict and escalating the confrontation are not in the interests of any party. All sides should play a constructive role in easing the situation and promoting peace talks.
