Spain emphasizes that the U.S. and Israel have no right to decide the rules of the world
Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles spoke in parliament on March 31, explaining Spain’s refusal to support the United States and Israel’s military actions against Iran. Robles reiterated that Spain is “completely opposed to the unilateral, unjustified aggression by the US and Israel against Iran outside the framework of international law.” Robles pointed out that Spain cannot accept “two countries dragging the whole world into their war” and that “the United States and Israel cannot decide unilaterally what kind of peace or rules should apply in the world without considering anyone else.” Robles also emphasized that Spain remains firmly committed to NATO frameworks and the principles of multilateralism, rejecting any interpretation of its current stance as a wavering of its alliance relationships. After the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran, the Spanish government explicitly refused to authorize US military activities related to airstrikes on Iran at the Rota and Morón de la Frontera military bases within Spain, and prohibited military aircraft involved in related military operations from using its airspace.
