Leaders of the UK and Syria: Should promote the resumption of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with visiting Syrian Interim Government President Ahmed Shara at 10 Downing Street in the Prime Minister’s residence on March 31. Both sides said it is necessary to develop feasible plans to promote the resumption of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The UK government said in a statement that both sides believe the Strait of Hormuz’s long-term closure has caused serious economic impacts, and that the UK and Syria will work with relevant parties to restore navigation. Both sides also believe that efforts should be made to prevent tensions in the Middle East from escalating further and to help the region regain stability. (Xinhua News Agency)
