Japan Tightens Cryptocurrency Regulations



The country has approved a law that classifies cryptocurrencies as financial instruments.

Previously, they were considered a means of payment; now — closer to traditional assets.

What is changing:

— Introduction of a ban on insider trading
— Mandatory reporting for issuers
— Stricter investor protection.
