Lightning Labs Chief Technology Officer Olaoluwa Osuntokun has built the first operational prototype of a Bitcoin quantum-resistant wallet rescue tool, designed to prevent millions of wallets from being permanently frozen when emergency quantum defense upgrades are launched in the future network. The scheme allows users to mathematically prove they are the wallet creators without revealing their seed phrases, thereby restoring access to funds. The current prototype is operational; generating proof takes about 55 seconds on a high-end MacBook, and verification takes less than 2 seconds, but there is no official BIP or clear deployment schedule yet.
