On the 5th local time, the Cuban Ministry of the Interior confirmed that the fifth person had died in the incident of a U.S.-registered speedboat entering Cuban waters. The Cuban government stated on February 25 that a U.S.-registered speedboat entered Cuban waters on that day and exchanged gunfire with law enforcement officers, with 10 armed personnel on board, resulting in 4 deaths and 6 injuries. According to the initial confessions of the arrested individuals, they planned to carry out a terrorist infiltration operation. All 10 armed personnel are Cuban citizens residing in the United States, most of whom have criminal and violent activity records. The Cuban Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on the 3rd of this month that, regarding the incident of a U.S.-registered speedboat entering Cuban waters and exchanging fire with law enforcement, six suspects have been formally charged with “committing acts of terrorism” and have been prosecuted.
