Costa Rica closes its embassy in Cuba; Cuba accuses the U.S. of behind-the-scenes pressure

On the 18th local time, Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez posted on social media condemning the Costa Rican government’s earlier announcement to close its embassy in Cuba and downgrade diplomatic relations to the consular level. Rodriguez stated that this action by Costa Rica clearly cowers to pressure and orders from the U.S. government. The United States is trying to rally other countries in the region to continue its political attempt to isolate Cuba, and this effort is doomed to fail. On the 18th, Costa Rican Foreign Minister Andre said at a press conference that Costa Rica has decided to close its embassy in Cuba and has officially requested the Cuban diplomatic department to withdraw most of its diplomatic personnel from the embassy in San Jose, leaving only the necessary staff to handle consular affairs.
