According to CoinDesk, AI computing power development is becoming one of the main sources of new electricity demand in the United States. Bitcoin miners face a choice: continue mining or lease infrastructure to AI companies. Core Scientific, in partnership with CoreWeave, has converted most of its mining capacity into AI hosting services. Iris Energy and Hut 8 have expanded their revenue from AI and high-performance computing. Riot Platforms, MARA Holdings, and Genius Group disclosed last week that they sold over 19,000 bitcoins, indicating that the mining economy is difficult to sustain under current prices and network difficulty.
