CIMC Group Chairman Mai Boliang: The container industry is susceptible to factors such as geopolitical influences, and long-term demand will continue to grow.
On March 27, Ma Bo Liang, Chairman of CIMC Group, said at a company performance briefing that global trade is currently affected by multiple uncertain factors, including geopolitical tensions and the status of passage through key shipping lanes. This will also affect shipping efficiency and container turnover, intensifying fluctuations in short-term market demand, and causing container demand to increase noticeably in the near term. Ma Bo Liang believes that in the long run, containers will still be the world’s most important and most advanced tool for trade, with no substitute. Even though the global trade growth rate is slowing, the “Global South” countries’ trade growth is accelerating, so container demand is expected to remain on an upward trajectory over the long term.
