Recently, discussions about “the price of two-wheel electric vehicles will be adjusted upward” have drawn attention. On March 30, China News Network • Jingwei visited five electric bicycle stores in Beijing’s Xicheng District—Yadee, Aima, Niu, Ninebot, and others—under the identity of a consumer. Multiple store employees said they have not yet received any clear notice of a price increase, but electric vehicle prices in April may be raised.

In a Niu electric vehicle store in Xicheng District, an employee said that currently, some models can enjoy discounts when ordered on JD.com or Taobao. Based on the listed price, coupons ranging from 200 yuan to 400 yuan can be claimed. The exact amount depends on what the consumer actually receives. The promotion runs until the end of March. The coupons are valid across stores in Beijing. After consumers claim coupons online and purchase, they can pick up the vehicle at the nearest store.

When asked whether electric vehicles will rise in price in April, the employee said that after March, the prices of most models in the store have already been adjusted upward. For example, the price of the Niu Electric MT Sport 2026 model 48V 30A lithium battery model increased from 4,999 yuan to 5,099 yuan, an increase of 100 yuan.

“The main reason for the price increase is that the vehicle materials have changed. Previously, the material of the whole vehicle was plastic, and now the plastic area of the whole vehicle does not exceed 5%.” Regarding the future price trend, the employee said it is not yet certain. However, since the prices of raw materials such as aluminum-magnesium alloy fluctuate greatly, raw material costs are rising, and there is still a possibility that the price of the complete vehicle will be increased.

A Yadee electric vehicle store in Xicheng District, meanwhile, offered discounts on certain models. For example, the Yadee C09 model’s original price was 2,599 yuan, and since March 8 it has been lowered to 2,399 yuan. The store employee said customers can place orders through the Taobao platform, claim a 100-yuan straight-off coupon, and redeem it in-store to pick up the vehicle before the end of March.

Regarding whether they received a notice of a price increase, the employee said: “Oil went up, and those raw materials like tires also went up, so the price will definitely be affected.” He added, “After the price increase, how much it will be is still unknown. We haven’t had a meeting yet, so the price increase may be in April.”

Employees at an Aima electric vehicle store and Ninebot electric vehicle store in Xicheng District said they have not received any notice that prices will rise soon. A Ninebot store employee said that this year electric vehicle prices are indeed higher than last year, mainly because after the implementation of the new national standard, the material costs are higher than last year. As for whether prices will rise again in the future, it is still hard to say for now.

In another Yadee electric vehicle store in Xicheng District, an employee said that since oil has become more expensive, shipping costs also rise, adding 50 to 80 yuan to the cost of each vehicle. He predicted that in April, some models may see price increases, but at the same time there will also be one or two models offered at special prices.

On March 30, the media reported that, affected by the increase in raw material prices, starting in April, the recommended retail price discount on some models of Ninebot will be reduced to an appropriate extent, with the discount amount reduced by 100 yuan. On the afternoon of March 30, China News Network • Jingwei, as a consumer, called Ninebot’s securities department. A staff member said that it is not yet clear whether the business department has any plans to increase prices, and the specific timing and extent have not been determined either. Everything will be based on the product prices in April.
