Jinmailang Chairman responds that "handmade" is a trademark: immediately cease production of all products bearing this trademark.

Fast Technology April 2 news: According to media reports, in response to consumers buying Jinmailang “hand-pulled noodles” and finding out that “hand-pulled” is only a registered trademark, Jinmailang Group Chairman Fan Xianguo posted a video response on a social platform, saying that the “hand-pulled” trademark was registered in 2006 and has been in use for 20 years.

He said that with progress in the times and an improvement in consumer awareness, products must also keep up with the times. To avoid causing confusion for consumers in product descriptions, Jinmailang has decided to stop using the “hand-pulled” trademark. Starting from 12:00 a.m. on April 2, the company will immediately stop producing all products bearing the “hand-pulled” trademark.

Previously, some consumers reported that on the packaging of a certain noodle product from Jinmailang, the four characters “hand-pulled noodles” are very eye-catching, and beside them there is a promotional slogan reading “It looks like Mom’s hand-pulled noodles,” which makes it easy for people to associate “hand-pulled” with traditional hand-made processing techniques.

However, at the top-right corner of the packaging, the two characters “hand-pulled” are labeled in small font with the registered trademark symbol. At the time, Jinmailang staff responded that this noodle is an industrial product, produced on the workshop assembly line, and that “hand-pulled” is only the name.

According to public information, Jinmailang Food Co., Ltd. registered multiple trademarks containing the text “hand-pulled” from 2004 to 2023.

In addition, the company has also applied to register 14 trademarks such as “hand-pulled fresh noodles,” “Mr. Hand-pulled,” “Hand-pulled Master,” and “Hand-pulled Noodles.” Among them, “Mr. Hand-pulled” and “Hand-pulled Master” have been successfully registered, the trademark application for “Hand-pulled Noodles” has been withdrawn, and the “hand-pulled fresh noodles” trademark was rejected.
