I just saw an interesting report from Arkham about Vitalik Buterin's holdings, and the numbers are quite impressive. Ethereum's co-founder has an estimated net worth of at least US$ 833.83 million, making him the largest individual ETH holder known.

Buterin's wealth mainly comes from a massive allocation of tokens since the launch of Ethereum in July 2015. It’s worth noting that in 2021, when ETH surged above US$ 3,000, he briefly joined the billionaire club. Today, with ETH trading around US$ 2,100, the situation is quite different, but his net worth remains enormous.

In total, Buterin holds approximately 245,278 ETH in his wallet, valued at around US$ 831.2 million. Interestingly, this amount represents a small fraction of the total ETH in circulation — he has always committed not to hold more than 0.9% of the supply. Besides his ETH holdings, his wealth also includes investments in other projects like StarkNet and non-ETH tokens such as KNCL, WETH, and DEGEN.

What stands out is that over the years, Buterin’s ETH holdings have decreased significantly, partly due to strategic sales and the network’s inflationary design. Still, compared to other entities holding large amounts of ETH — such as exchanges and institutional managers — Buterin remains the leading individual holder.

The estimated net worth of nearly a billion dollars should be considered conservative. There may be undisclosed holdings and potential assets outside the crypto universe that could significantly increase this number. In any case, it shows how Vitalik Buterin’s wealth remains intrinsically linked to the performance of the cryptocurrencies he helped create.
