II. Apple’s first foldable-screen smartphone is already in trial production
Foxconn is already in trial production of Apple’s foldable iPhone. III. Megawatt-class hydrogen-fueled aviation turboprop engine completes first flight successfully
On April 4, the AEP100 megawatt-class hydrogen-fueled aviation turboprop engine, independently developed by the Hunan Power Machinery Research Institute of the China Aero-Engine Corporation, was successfully flown for its first time after being installed with a 7.5-ton-class unmanned transport aircraft at Zhuzhou Lusong Airport. This is the first-ever trial flight of a megawatt-class hydrogen-fueled aviation turboprop engine globally. It marks that China has already connected the full technical chain—from core components to full-system integration—in the field of hydrogen-fueled aviation engines. It validates engineering reliability of matching hydrogen-fueled power systems with flight platforms, laying a key foundation for subsequent industrialized applications of hydrogen-energy aviation.

IV. China’s cross-border renminbi payment system breaks 1.2 trillion yuan in a single day
According to the website data of the Cross-border Interbank Payment System (CIPS) Limited Liability Company, the daily average transaction value of the CIPS reached 920.5 billion yuan, the highest level in the past 12 months. And on April 2, the single-day transaction value further rose to 1.22 trillion yuan. Since the February 28 military strikes by the U.S. against Iran, when traditional safe-haven assets represented by U.S. Treasury bonds failed to perform their hedging function, global investors have increasingly shifted their allocation focus to China. In the past month, not only have China’s government bond yields remained stable, but the renminbi has also appreciated against the trend. Renminbi assets are becoming a new refuge amid the Middle East crisis.

VII. The Middle East war triggers a surge in European heat pump heating demand
In February this year, exports of heat pumps from China to Europe increased sharply. As the Middle East war causes energy prices to surge further, it will also drive Europe’s heat pump demand. And the EU industrial accelerator act will shift pure export models toward cooperation models. Analysts say that in January to February 2026, China’s heat pump export value year over year grew by more than 50%. Among them, export value in February rose 81.8% to 930 million yuan, mainly to the European market. The Middle East war has caused oil and natural gas prices to skyrocket over the past month, which will further boost the growth of Europe’s heat pump demand.
