I noticed an interesting trend in how the financial world is transitioning to blockchain. Crypto banks are becoming increasingly popular, and this is not just another hype — it's a real shift in how people manage their money.
Sharing my observation: traditional banks are already starting to fall behind. A crypto bank is essentially a financial institution that combines blockchain and digital assets into its core functionality. Instead of just storing fiat, they provide access to DeFi, crypto-backed loans, staking, and a bunch of other tools that regular banks don't even offer.
The new wave of financial services includes non-custodial wallets, decentralized finance, crypto asset-backed loans, and cards that allow you to spend crypto in the real world. This is no longer the future — it’s the present.
There are several players in the market trying to occupy this niche. Some platforms focus on convenience and integrating crypto into everyday spending. Others bet on high staking rewards and cashback. Yet others position themselves as premium services with minimal deposit requirements. Each crypto bank chooses its own path.
But here’s what’s important: most of them remain custodial platforms. That means you trust them with your assets, and they have control. This contradicts the very idea of decentralization.
That’s why some projects are trying to do something different — create a truly decentralized banking experience where the user has full control. Such a crypto bank would give you the choice between custodial and non-custodial storage, direct access to DeFi farms, transparency of every transaction on the blockchain, and a crypto card for real-world spending.
This would be a revolution in how we understand financial freedom.
Currently, there’s a battle in the market between convenience (custodial solutions) and control (non-custodial). Everyone chooses what’s more important to them. But the trend is clear: a crypto bank that offers both options with transparency and no compromises will win.
It will be interesting to see how this develops further.
