A window blind in a Shenzhen affordable housing unit suddenly fell and hit an elderly person. The elderly person's head showed obvious bleeding. After treatment, they have returned home to recover. Property management: a special safety inspection has been initiated.

On April 1, a netizen posted that yesterday in Phase 3 of Huiyu Mingdu Garden in Bao’an District, an incident involving a falling object from a height occurred: because the louver blinds came loose, a middle-aged woman was struck. After the incident, the property management has launched a special safety inspection. Also, according to a reporter, the elderly person, after receiving treatment, has returned home to rest and recuperate.

The photos posted by the netizen show that after a black metal louver blind about 2 meters long fell to the ground, the frame was deformed and the slats scattered. An elderly person was sitting on the ground; there was visible blood on the head, and the person looked pained. Security personnel nearby moved forward to provide help, and a number of residents gathered at the scene. The reporter noticed that in the comments under the post, some netizens provided additional details: “The old lady is still alive. They really managed to save one life—it’s so terrifying.” “When it happened, the grandmother was also pushing their family’s little baby. Luckily the baby is fine.”

On the day of the incident, the implicated property management—Shenzhen Hengji Property Management Co., Ltd. (as published by)—issued a “Public Notice Regarding the Special Safety Inspection of the Louvers in Phase 3.” It specifically stated: due to recent severe convective weather, an incident in which louver blinds fell from a height and injured people occurred suddenly in the fitness area of Phase 3. To avoid further safety risks from falling objects from heights, the property service center specially hired a professional high-altitude work team to immediately conduct a comprehensive special inspection of all building units’ air-conditioning louver blinds on the exterior walls and the external facades of Phase 3. Among them, key safety hazards to be inspected include louver blinds for air-conditioning windows that are loose, have become detached, are corroded, or are damaged. For hazards identified, temporary reinforcement will be carried out on-site.

After that, a Nandu reporter called the property service center. The person answering the call hung up the phone on the grounds of “not accepting interviews.” The reporter learned from multiple sources that on the day of the incident, the elderly person had been promptly sent to the hospital for treatment, and is now back home to rest and recuperate.

According to public information, Huiyu Mingdu Garden is developed by Huibang (Shenzhen) Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. It is a large-scale integrated complex project combining talent housing, apartments, offices, and commercial spaces, with some units allocated to be assigned for rent as public rental housing in Futian District.
