Is the Stock Market Open on Easter Monday 2026?
TLDR

Easter Monday falls on April 6, 2026, but US investors won’t see any disruption to their trading day.
The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are both open at their regular start time of 9:30 a.m. Eastern. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association has also recommended full operations throughout the day.
Easter Monday is not listed among the 12 federal holidays recognized in the United States for 2026. That means no special closures apply to financial markets.
The stock market did close on Good Friday, April 4. That is one of the few non-federal holidays observed by US exchanges each year.
Over-the-counter markets, the Cboe Futures Exchange, the CME Globex platform, and the bond market are all running on normal schedules today.
International Markets See Mixed Picture
Not all global markets are open. The London Stock Exchange and Euronext Paris are both closed in observance of Easter Monday, which is a public holiday across much of Europe.
The Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong are also closed, though for a different reason. Both are shut for Qingming Festival, a traditional Chinese observance.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Bombay Stock Exchange, and the Toronto Stock Exchange are all open for regular business today.
Banks, Mail, and Delivery Services Running Normally
The Federal Reserve observes 11 federal holidays per year. Easter Monday is not among them, so bank branches across the country are open.
The US Postal Service is also operating as normal. Mail will be collected and delivered today.
Private carriers are unaffected too. UPS and FedEx are both open for pickup and delivery services, and their retail locations are operating on standard hours.
This comes during a period of broader market uncertainty. Since late January, software stocks have faced pressure over concerns about artificial intelligence disruption. A conflict involving Iran, which began in late February, added to macroeconomic uncertainty and pushed some investors toward safer assets.
As of this morning, US markets opened on schedule with no exchange-related delays or closures reported.
