** 【Caixin】**Climate change and the wave of digitalization are both key forces driving economic transformation, and it is wrong to oppose economic growth with low-carbon development. On March 26, the President and Chair of the Board of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (referred to as “AIIB”), Cai Jiai, attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026 and expressed the above views.

Cai Jiai cited that economic development and green transformation go hand in hand in Asia. The application of digital technology has enhanced the production efficiency of clean energy, and green energy continues to support data centers, facilitating the increasing prevalence of artificial intelligence.

Cai Jiai also mentioned that strengthening regional cooperation is an important force for Asia in promoting both green and digital transformations. The ASEAN Power Grid Initiative is a typical example. This is a plan to connect the electricity systems of ten ASEAN member countries, with the aim of establishing a cross-border interconnected regional grid system among Southeast Asian countries by 2045. This plan helps integrate renewable energy, promotes regional integration, and enhances energy security.
