Trump on War and the Stock Market: I Thought the Stock Market Would Drop Even More

According to the WSJ, on March 28, U.S. President Trump delivered a speech at the “International Financial Research Institute Priority Summit” held in Miami Beach, discussing the nearly month-long war with Iran. When talking about the war and the stock market, he said that he originally expected the conflict in Iran to have a greater impact on the stock market. He stated, “I thought the decline would be larger.” He also added, “I thought oil prices would rise higher.” The WSJ noted that the S&P 500 index has fallen for five consecutive weeks, reaching its lowest level since last August.
