On March 11 local time, Italian Prime Minister Meloni stated that Italy has not participated in and does not intend to participate in the military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran. She also mentioned that Italy is providing air defense equipment to Gulf countries. On the same day, Meloni delivered a statement in the Senate regarding the situation in the Middle East and the upcoming European Council. She said that Italy is providing air defense systems to Gulf countries. Other major European countries have taken similar actions, particularly the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Meloni noted that about 2,000 Italian soldiers are also stationed in the Gulf region. Meloni further stated that Italy has sent a naval vessel to Cyprus, as its territory has previously been targeted by Iranian strikes. She said this is an action out of a commitment to European solidarity, and it is also a precautionary measure. (CCTV News)
