Bloomberg reports that Apple plans to launch a standalone app and a natural language query mode called “Ask Siri” for the next-generation AI assistant Siri in iOS 27 and macOS 27.

Apple intends to develop the new Siri into a chatbot application similar to Gemini or ChatGPT.

As part of its comprehensive AI transformation, Apple is testing a standalone Siri voice assistant app and a new Ask Siri feature that will be integrated across all its software systems. The upgraded Siri aims to more accurately control internal functions of iPhone and Mac, access personal data, and interact with users through text and voice conversations.

The new version of Siri is expected to be unveiled as early as June 8 at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), as part of iOS 27 and macOS 27. Features include a redesigned interface, the ability to perform tasks across apps, access news content, and browse the web.
