Livestream sales of tripe reached nearly 30 million units, "Luha may need to compensate 2.69 billion"
Questioning AI · The chaos in the production of beef tripe exposes regulatory blind spots in influencer marketing
Recently, the production environment of beef tripe sold by influencer Lu Ha (real name Ling Dale) was exposed to be extremely poor, with the tripe placed directly on dirty floors during processing, workers smoking while working, and various cross-contamination issues. Additionally, illegal use of hydrogen peroxide was found during processing.
According to netizens, “Lu Ha” Ling Dale’s live broadcast has sold a total of 30 million units of this product. If the “fake one, compensate three” promise is applied, the compensation to consumers could reach 2.69 billion yuan; if the “fake one, compensate ten” rule is used, the amount could be as high as 8.97 billion yuan.
Exposed production process of the problematic beef tripe
Some netizens commented on Ling Dale’s account, saying they had purchased this beef tripe multiple times, and others reported experiencing diarrhea after eating it.
Ling Dale’s customer service responded to consumers, stating that to better ensure the shopping experience, during the verification of the relevant situation, they decided to provide advance refunds for users who purchased the product from Ling Dale, and on top of that, offer an additional three times the order amount as compensation.
On March 15, the Jialing District Market Supervision Administration in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, issued a situation report, stating that at around 5 p.m. on March 14, the bureau paid attention to a video from China Food News media about “chaos in influencer beef tripe production,” which reflected issues such as poor hygiene in the Sichuan Chuanniu Fu Food Co., Ltd. production workshop located in Jialing District, Nanchong City. The bureau attached great importance to this and organized law enforcement personnel to conduct an on-site inspection at 6 p.m. the same day. The company has been placed under investigation, ordered to suspend production immediately, undergo suspension and rectification, and its raw materials and finished products have been registered and preserved in advance, with samples taken for testing. Further investigation and handling are ongoing, and subsequent actions will be taken according to the findings, with timely disclosure to the public.
Public information shows that Ling Dale is a video blogger and live streamer, formerly known as Lu Ha, born on August 7, 2000, in Jiangxi Province. Ling Dale was once a member of the male group ESO, which also included members such as Wang Erbo, Yi Yangqianxi, and Huang Zicheng. They mimicked artists from groups like EXO and TFBOYS.
In July 2022, Ling Dale gained popularity online as a member of ESO male group with short videos featuring “face resemblance to celebrities.” On August 15 of the same year, Ling Dale announced that he was reverting to his real name from Lu Ha and apologized, expressing gratitude to Lu Han and his fans in the video, and explaining why he imitated Lu Han. He mentioned that this would be the last time he would call himself Lu Ha.
Subsequently, he transitioned into a live commerce host. Currently, Ling Dale has nearly 10 million followers. According to Qichacha, Ling Dale is associated with three companies, two of which are active. He once revealed that he earned 35 million yuan in seven months through live streaming sales.
