The Washington Post reports that, according to court records, the prosecution of former U.S. President Trump has admitted that there is insufficient evidence regarding the case against Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

The report states that a senior deputy of federal prosecutor Jeanine Pirro admitted at a closed-door hearing this month that the Department of Justice found no evidence of misconduct in the criminal investigation into the costs of the Federal Reserve headquarters renovation project.

This admission by the prosecution during the hearing undermines Trump’s claim that there was “criminal” activity involved in the $2.5 billion office building renovation at the Federal Reserve.
