Microsoft Win11 Pushes March Security Update: Introduces Emoji 16.0, Adds Bing Speed Test and More
IT Home March 11 News, Microsoft released the KB5079473 cumulative update for Windows 11 during this month’s Patch Tuesday (March 10). After installation, version number for 25H2 users is upgraded to Build 26200.8037.
In terms of deployment, Microsoft continues to use the “Controlled Feature Rollout” (CFR) strategy, meaning security patches take effect immediately after installation, while new features like Emoji 16.0 and network speed testing are gradually rolled out to users.
On the visual and interaction level, the new version of Windows 11 fully supports Emoji 16.0, allowing users to insert new emojis such as fingerprint, leafless tree, root, and shovel.
Microsoft also enhances system wallpapers by native support for WebP format images, making it easier for users to set smaller, higher-quality web images as backgrounds.
Additionally, the right-click menu on the taskbar now includes a shortcut for network speed testing. Although this tool is powered by Bing and redirects to the browser, it remains a useful tool for users who need quick network status checks.
For professional users and IT administrators, Microsoft has integrated the Sysmon system monitoring tool. Users no longer need to manually download it; they can enable this in-depth monitoring service via the “Optional Features” page.
At the same time, to mitigate system crash risks, the “Quick Machine Recovery” (QMR) feature is now enabled by default in Windows 11 Pro.

For enterprise users using ARM architecture PCs, this update officially supports Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT), including core modules such as Active Directory and DNS server management.
On the underlying optimization front, IT Home cites a blog post stating that Microsoft improved the responsiveness of the Windows Update settings page and fixed issues with login screens and multi-monitor switching stuttering.
The new version also improves File Explorer, allowing users to more reliably open new windows with Shift + click on icons and to use the “Extract All” function for non-ZIP archives.
