Chief Executive John Lee arrived in Haikou, Hainan this afternoon. On Thursday, he will attend the Boao Asia Forum 2026 Annual Conference, and this afternoon he will also participate in the forum’s sub-session: Global Free Trade Port Development Forum, where he will deliver a speech.

John Lee posted on social media that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Boao Asia Forum, which is highly significant. He looks forward to engaging in dialogue and exchanges with government officials, international organization leaders, business representatives, experts, scholars, and media personnel from around the world to inspire ideas and build consensus for development.

He stated that amid tense and turbulent situations in the Middle East, rising unilateralism, and escalating geopolitical conflicts, the importance of the annual conference is even greater. Governments worldwide feel a heavy responsibility. Asian countries and regions should unite and cooperate to address challenges, stimulate economic growth, and propose peaceful, win-win, and efficient development solutions for Asia and the world. This will contribute wisdom and strength to promote sustained high-quality global economic development.
