# Techniques for Breaking Even on Losing Positions

1. **Calculate your cost basis clearly**: List your entry price, current price, position size, and loss percentage. Identify the maximum loss you can accept and never stubbornly hold through to ruin.

2. **Reduce positions in stages to control risk**: For long positions at highs, sell in batches at resistance levels. For short positions at lows, reduce positions after breaking support levels, gradually decreasing both position size and risk.

3. **Trade within oscillation ranges to lower your cost**: In oscillation ranges like 2130-2160, buy at lows and sell at highs to recover portion of your position, using $BTC small spreads to gradually reduce your holding cost.

4. **Hedge in the direction of the trend to reduce losses**: When the market shows clear weakness, use small positions to open shorts against your long positions; when the market strengthens, use small positions to open longs against your short positions—short-term operations only.

5. **Cut weak positions and keep strong ones to exit losses**: If your held tokens significantly underperform the broader market long-term, decisively cut losses and switch to strong performers, achieving faster recovery through new positions' profits.

6. **Avoid chasing rallies and panic selling**: In range-bound markets, patiently wait for opportunities and avoid frequent trading that amplifies losses.
