WallstreetCN News has learned that investment bank Wedbush stated that Palantir (PLTR.US)'s Maven AI Super System has been recognized as a “Formal Record Project” by the U.S. Pentagon, further solidifying the company’s position as a key supplier to the U.S. military. Wedbush reaffirmed its “Outperform” rating on Palantir and set a target price of $230, which is nearly 43% higher than the stock’s closing price of $160.84 on Monday.

According to reports, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg told Pentagon leaders in a letter that Palantir’s Maven AI system will become a Formal Record Project, ensuring the long-term use of Palantir’s weapon targeting technology within the U.S. military. In his letter dated March 9 to senior Pentagon officials and military commanders, Feinberg stated that the embedded Maven intelligence system will provide warfighters with “the latest tools needed to detect, deter, and control adversaries across all domains.” The letter indicated that this decision is expected to take effect before the end of the current fiscal year (ending in September).

Maven is a command and control software platform that analyzes battlefield data and identifies targets. The system can quickly analyze vast amounts of data from satellites, drones, radar, sensors, and intelligence reports, and use AI to automatically identify potential threats or targets, such as enemy military vehicles, buildings, and weapons depots. It has already become the U.S. military’s primary AI operating system. Feinberg stated that designating Maven as a Formal Record Project will streamline its adoption across military branches and provide stable, long-term funding.

This is a major victory for Palantir. The company has signed increasing numbers of contracts with the U.S. government, including a $10 billion contract announced last summer with the U.S. Army. Over the past year, these contracts have doubled the company’s stock price, with a market value approaching $360 billion.

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives stated in an investor report: “Less than a year before Palantir wins the Maven AI system contract in May 2025, which was valued at $1.3 billion and aimed at assisting the Department of Defense with data fusion and target recognition, this capability is becoming increasingly critical given the current geopolitical landscape.”

Ives added, “Designating Palantir’s Maven AI system as a ‘Formal Record Project’ will simplify collaboration with various military branches and provide long-term funding support. Over the next 30 days, Maven’s oversight responsibilities will be transferred to the Pentagon’s Chief Digital and AI Office, with subsequent contracts managed by the U.S. Army.” He also noted, “We still believe Palantir will secure more contracts at the federal government level. Its software value proposition aligns perfectly with the U.S. government’s navigation needs in complex geopolitical environments. By deeply engaging in high-priority Department of Defense projects and contracts, the company is poised to capture more IT budget share at the Pentagon.”
